I love Jesus and want to honor God with my life in everything I do. I am quick to admit I am far from perfect. Thankful I dont have to be perfect but I am forgiven. Studying His Word, the Bible, and teaching it to children is my passion!

How This Site Works

I am so excited to use my education background to provide resources to Children’s Ministries that need new options! I understand that sometimes volunteers have limited lessons to choose from and churches do not always have the money to invest in big curriculums. I hope that this will provide an alternative that will be useful.

I believe keeping the Bible passage in context and understanding the Bible as complete with the Old and New Testament. I have a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Bible. However, I graduated during the recession and have since moved my career to Human Resources. I enjoy what I do, but I know God has given me a creative mind with a passion for Children’s Ministry!

My plan is to release a new lesson on Mondays for the following Sunday.

First lesson will be posted on Monday, March 22, 2021 for Palm Sunday!

Every week, I will work to use materials common in children’s ministry, household items, and things easily found at dollar and discount stores. I hope to keep monthly spending as low as $20 or roughly $5 a week. If there are ideas I have of different items that would work, I will share that, as well.

Here are some things I consider items on hand:

  • Computer / Tablet / Smartphone
  • Printer (I use a black and white only one most of the time)
  • Copy Paper
  • Construction Paper
  • Glue and/or glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Crayons  and/or markers or colored pencils
  • Pens/pencils

This will help give a foundation for the site and how to be effective with using this as a resource for your ministry!

Crayons & Bible Stories Coming Soon…..

Hi. My name is Mandy. Thank you for visiting Crayons and Bible Stories. This website has been a long time in coming! I am passionate about teaching children about God and maintaining the integrity of the Bible passage. When I was attending Bible college, I was searching for lessons for children’s church. I found a lesson that basically said, “Cain killed Abel so we have belly buttons now.” I was super disappointed with the resources available (and limited passages covered) to small churches that may not have a budget for children’s. Since then, I have wanted to develop resources so churches that need it can have quality lessons on a shoestring budget. My goal is to make the lessons downloadable for free and the materials needed things you can find around your home or church, or maybe less than a dollar to buy. I have been part of children’s ministries with no budget and the volunteers did everything out of pocket and ministries that had twenty dollars to contribute to the children’s ministries. I understand that makes it difficult! I realize that the internet has expanded the resources available, but want to provide another resource and new ideas!

A little more about me:

  • BS in Elementary Education & Bible, MBA
  • Have been married about 14 years
  • Have two children in elementary school
  • Enjoy playing tennis
  • Asked Jesus to be my Savior at the age of 4 (Which is why I believe children’s ministry is so important!)
  • Enjoy crafts – sewing, quilting, scrapbooking
  • Am blessed to have a view of the Rocky Mountains from my home
  • Grew up in Missouri
  • Taught myself how to cook and enjoy baking on snowy days
  • Coffee is my favorite way to start the day

I am working to start posting in March for Palm Sunday and Easter 2021!

I hope to post new lessons on Monday for use that following Sunday. The first post should be available March 22, 2021. I am excited for the things to come and hope that this resource will be useful for your children’s ministry.
